Follow these tips from Athens Water Department to protect your water pipes this winter:

1. Close/seal all vents to the crawl space under your house.

2. Drain or fully insulate all exterior hose bibs.

3. When the night temperature goes below 30 degrees, leave a slight drip at a faucet closest to the exterior wall of your house. One drop per second is sufficient.

4. Open cabinet doors to expose sink pipes to warm air.
