Biography

Police Chief Floyd Johnson has served as head of the Athens Police Department since February 2012. He began his career with the department in August 1982 when he started work as a dispatcher. He became a police officer in October 1982 and a detective 3 years later. He was promoted to sergeant in 1986, then a lieutenant in 1998 and captain in 2009. As captain he oversaw the investigative division and served as public information officer.

Chief Johnson and his wife Suzanne have 2 children, Callie and Caleb.
