Virtual Meeting Options during State Health Order for COVID-19

The City of Athens Board of Zoning Adjustment is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.

Due to COVID-19 protocols, the City will be streaming the meeting online in a way to allow members of the public to listen to, observe, or  participate in the meeting. If you wish to view the meeting online, simply click the link below titled "Join Zoom Meeting" and follow the prompt. If you wish to use a phone to dial-in to listen to the meeting, you can use the phone number listed under the "Dial by your location" heading. Once you dial-in, you will need to enter the Meeting ID when prompted. Long distance charges may apply.

During the meeting, questions or comments regarding agenda items may be taken through the ZOOM platform, or may be directed to a separate phone line at (256) 262-1430.

Hearing Cases


The Zoning Board of Adjustment is responsible for hearing cases on changes to the nature of property:
  • Administrative Appeals
  • Interpreting Zoning Boundaries
  • Special Exception Uses (including Major Home Occupations)
  • Variances

Applications


Application fee is $20. Submission deadline/meeting date has been adjusted due to holidays/conflicts. Applicant/applicant's representative must attend the meeting for action to be taken on the case.
